Voting Process & Timeline
On April 14, the Sutter Butte Flood Control Agency (SBFCA) Board of Directors authorized the balloting process. Property owners will receive their ballots by mail on or about May 13.
- Property owners will have until June 30 to return ballots by mail. Ballots must be received by the close of the public hearing on June 30 to be counted.
- Property owners can also submit their ballots at a public hearing at 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 30 at the Veteran’s Hall, 1425 Veteran’s Memorial Circle, Yuba City.
- Votes are weighted by the amount of the proposed assessment (one vote for every dollar of the proposed assessment).
- To pass, the assessment must receive more than 50 percent of the weighted vote for all ballots returned.
- Ballots will be counted the week of July 5, and results announced at SBFCA’s Special Board Meeting at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 14, at the Superintendent of Schools Training Center, 1699 Sierra Avenue, Yuba City.
- If approved by property owners, and then imposed by the SBFCA Board, the assessments would appear on property tax bills in October 2010.
