Flood Awareness Month: October 2009

Flood Awareness Month included events and educational activities to help residents of the Yuba City Basin learn more about our history of flooding, steps underway to improve flood protections and more.

Community Meeting on plans to restore Feather River levees. Veteran's Hall in Yuba City. Sponsored by Sutter Butte Flood Control Agency and County of Sutter.

October 7

Personal Emergency Preparedness classes by Three Rivers Red Cross. Yuba City Office, 2125 E. Onstott Road. These classes taught the public how to prepare for a disaster, including how to prepare a Disaster Supplies Kit, Go Bag and a Family Disaster Plan.

Voter support critical for levee project

The Sutter Butte Flood Control Agency presented the Yuba City Council with a progress report Tuesday to discuss the status, options and tentative timeline for levee restoration. One of the strongest points echoed by council and agency members was the need for passing the Proposition 218 benefit assessment vote in May.
