Don't Be Scared. Be Prepared!

At 12:04 a.m. on Christmas Eve morning 1955, a levee on the west bank of the Feather River collapsed about one mile south of Yuba City. A wall of water 4,000 feet wide and 21 feet high cascaded into Sutter County. The resulting 38 deaths and the destruction of homes, businesses and farmland across 100,000 acres of Sutter County was the worst disaster in the history of California since the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.
